Presentation of the book “La carità, motore di tutto il progresso sociale: Paolo VI, la Popolorum Progressio e la FAO”

On Tuesday 4th June 2019, the Italian Embassy to the Holy See hosted at Palazzo Borromeo the presentation of the book “La carità, motore di tutto il progresso sociale: Paolo VI, la Popolorum Progressio e la FAO” edited by Patrizia Moretti. The aim of the volume is to investigate the relations of Pope Paul VI with the United Nations Organizations based in Rome (FAO – IFAD – PAM). In the years of economic boom and confidence in progress, Pope Paul VI (1963-1978) looked beyond the certainty of his time; he understood the need for a multilateral dialogue between “the hungry nations of the world” and “the peoples blessed with abundance” towards an integral human development.
Speeches by Deputy Director-General of FAO Daniel Gustafso, the Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University professor Vincenzo Buonomo, the Italian De La Salle Brothers Provincial Visitor Gabriele Di Giovanni and the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to FAO – IFAD – PAM Mgr Fernando Chica Arellano.
