On Tuesday 26th of June, the Italian Embassy to the Holy See hosted the presentation of the XXXIX Edition of the Meeting for Friendship Amongst Peoples “The forces that move history are the same that make man happy” that will be held in Rimini from 19th to 25th August.
“I was very happy to resume the habit of hosting at Palazzo Borromeo the presentation of the Meeting for friendship amongst peoples,” said H.E. Ambassador Pietro Sebastiani, recalling how the importance of the Meeting is based on its capacity to dialogue at international level and its contribution as a resource for the national community.
In addition to H.E. Ambassador Sebastiani, the President of the Rimini Meeting Emilia Guarnieri, the Minister of Education, University and Research Marco Bussetti, His Beatitude Louis I Sako, Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans, who will be created cardinal in the Consistory of 28th June, and the President of the Italian Space Agency Roberto Battiston took part to the event.
Minister Bussetti expressed his sincere appreciation for the Meeting for Friendship among peoples, underlining how his presence at Palazzo Borromeo is a concrete sign of the support of the Ministry of Education, University and Research to the event.
The President of the Meeting, Emilia Guarnieri, stressed that the message of this edition is to take happiness as a starting point in order to regain the trust and hope necessary to re-establish ties.
H.B. Patriarch L.R. I Sako, focused on the difficult situation of Christians in the Middle East, constantly expelled from their homes, in particular in Iraq and in Syria, stating that the Church is currently focusing on keeping Christians in the territory and ensure them freedom and dignity.
Finally, Roberto Battiston discussed the recent discoveries in astrophysics, concentrating on the “exoplanets”, which will be at the centre of a show at the Rimini Meeting next August, and affirming that science must always be open to dialogue and confrontation to allow our ideas to open up to new horizons.
