Concert “Mors et Resurrectionis” by the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, from Washington. 6 October 2016

The Embassy of Italy to the Holy See, hosted, on 6th of October, the Concert by the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, from Washington.

The Choir presented a program of a cappella choral music featuring works spanning five centuries, from the Renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina to the Modern William Henry Harris.

Director of Music was Peter Latona, together with the Associate Director Benjamin LaPraire and the Assistant Organist Nathan Davy.

The Choir is comprised of twenty-four professional singers from the greater Washington metropolitan area and is dedicated in sacral choral music in the context of Liturgy throughout the Liturgical year. The Choir is engaged in close to one hundred performances each year. In addition to performing choral literature from the vast treasury of sacred music, the choir champions newly composed works and has given numerous premiers including Henryk Gorecki and James MacMillan’s masterpieces. The Choir of the Basilica is really famous for attending international festivals and conferences, broadcast on the most popular televisions throughout the world.
