On Tuesday 27 April 2021 the Forum “Justice and Peace: Ethics in International Organizations” of the European Association of International Studies (AESI) was held at Palazzo Borromeo.
The event – held in hybrid mode with some remote connections and a restricted audience in the cloister of Palazzo Borromeo, in full compliance with the anti-Covid measures – was opened by the greeting speeches by Ambassador Pietro Sebastiani and Prof. Massimo Maria Caneva, President of AESI. Afterwards, Amb. Gianfranco Varvesi, member of the AESI Scientific Committee, Amb. Adriano Benedetti, Vice President of AESI, Amb. Gian Lorenzo Cornado, Permanent Representative of Italy to the International Organizations in Geneva also spoke.
Prof. Julia Amos, from the University of Oxford and some other Rectors and Professors by Universities in crisis areas of the Middle East and Eastern Europe (Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Palestine) joined remotely.
The event was attended remotely by students who have participated in the past in the international university cooperation programs that AESI has been organizing for many years to favor peace and dialogue: many testimonies came from Israel, Palestine and Lebanon.
Finally, during the Forum, AESI recalled the importance of the support of the Italian Diplomacy and the United Nations, with the Peace Forces UNIFIL and UNTSO, to the programs of university cooperation for peace.
